First of all, Hermès stamp allows you to determine the year of manufacture, the craftsman, the material, and sometimes whether the item is a special order. So, what are these mysterious symbols?
The list of stamps by year
The first classification of Hermès stamps indicates the year the bag was created, which helps you date your item.
The oldest stamp from the house is the letter T, introduced in 1964, and the list has evolved over the years.
As of today, the latest letter is K, which corresponds to bags made in 2025.
1945–1970

1971–1996

Starting in 1971, the stamps letters appear in alphabetical order and are enclosed in a circle to distinguish them from the previous system.
1997–2014
Afterward, the stamps were enclosed in a square until 2014.
2015–Present

Since 2015, Hermès returned to the original letter format, ranging from T up to K in 2025.
Special stamps
Hermès also uses other stamps to differentiate regular bags from more unique ones.
The "S"
The S indicates the bag was sold at a discounted price and cannot be resold.

The horseshoe
The horseshoe means the product is a special order made specifically for a client.
