Introduction:
The iconic Paris Fashion Week has always been a showcase for cutting-edge and creative trends, and the Spring/Summer 2024 edition was no exception. This time around, fashion brands dazzled with collections that celebrated diversity, sensuality and empowerment. Join us on this tour through the highlights of Paris Fashion Week, where art and fashion merged to inspire everyone.
Louis Vuitton
Nicolas Ghesquière has opted for a more elegant and innovative style this season. This collection is focused on the present, past and future, showing the origin of the fashion house but with a more forward-looking approach.
Fluid dresses, draped garments, prints and voluminous sleeves were essential on this runway to show the Parisian style and fuse it with the vintage style. The color palette definitely takes us to spring, with colors such as oranges, reds, yellows, pinks and lavender.
The collection was presented at the Champs Elysees and the design of the place left all the spectators of the runway show speechless. They were also brand ambassadors with stunning looks, like Zendaya and Jades Smith.
Hermès
The Hermès collection is focused on the power of the color red. Nadège Vanhée, the creative director, expressed her taste for discreet luxury through this collection in which she represented, along with sensuality and power, feminine friendship and comfort, essential at Hermès.
At first look it appears that the clothes are simple and basic, however sensuality is present on this catwalk, which was shown with skirts, leather bras, crop tops and mini-dresses. In addition to red, the colors present in this collection are in shades of brown, gray and black. Of course, the iconic bags such as the Birkin, the Arçon, the Panier d'été and the Pochette d'été couldn't be missing.
Channel
This collection brings back the timeless Parisian chic of Coco Chanel. Virginie Viard perfectly captured the spirit of what Chanel was all about, freedom, sophistication and eccentricity. The collection was inspired by Villa Noailles in the south of France, a modernist property. Practicality was also very present in this collection, as it combines Parisian chic with beach style, reflected in knitted vests, knitted skirts, jeans, jackets and even flip-flops.
Chanel's iconic tweed could not be missing, along with transparencies and denim fabrics. As for the colors, many of them were vibrant colors such as pink, blue, red and black.
There were also VIP guests such as Penelope Cruz, Camila Morrone and Hari Nef sitting in the front row.
Saint Laurent
Saint Laurent's latest from creative director Anthony Vaccarello brought the safari to Place du Trocadéro. The collection is inspired by Amelia Earhart, Adrienne Bolland and other pioneering women who infiltrated areas considered exclusively male, such as aviation and car racing.
These looks represent power and elegance, represented through tank tops, cargo pants, cargo dresses, safari jackets and dresses with classic cuts. Also, all the looks include striking accessories in black and gold tones. The color palette is neutral, with brown, cream, black, white and gold.
This collection is modern and bold, reflecting the origins of the fashion house. Vaccarello invited celebrities such as Hailey Bieber, Kate Moss and Zoë Kravitz to witness the iconic collection.
Dior
For this Dior collection, creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri has been inspired by female stereotypes through time, from the Middle Ages to the Parisian women of France in the nineteenth century. On the runway there was a screen showing the phrase 'NOT HER' in yellow with pink, this with the intention of emphasizing the relationship between feminism and femininity through fashion, presenting an almost all black collection.
On the catwalk we saw jackets, skirts, trench coats, blazers, denim garments, black lace.... Shirts and dresses inspired by Christian Dior's 1948 Abandon dress stood out. The color palette included dark and basic tones, combining them with nude tones and floral prints.
Schiaparelli
Daniel Roseberry presented the collection 'An Everyday Sensation' at the Italian Embassy in Paris, showing with his looks that the comfortable can be mixed with the eccentric and surreal. The director's intention is to communicate that fashion should not be boring in order to be comfortable. For this reason, the runway was full of more casual pieces combined with extraordinary cuts and eye-catching accessories in authentic Schiaparelli style.
This year the key piece of the collection is the Lobster, which is deeply linked to the history of the brand, as it was painted by Dalí on a dress designed by Elsa Schiaparelli. There were also other iconic symbols of the fashion brand, such as the tape measure, cigars and red polish.
Celebrities such as Rosalia, Kylie Jenner and Kendall Jenner were present at this incredible fashion show. Kendall Jenner closed the show with an incredible red dress called 'red fingernails'.
Conclusion:
Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2024 was an unforgettable event that celebrated diversity, sensuality and empowerment in fashion. World-renowned brands once again demonstrated their ability to surprise and excite the audience, while sending messages of inclusion and empowerment to the fashion industry.
